The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has a strong interest in supporting the GOP, has been pushing for passage of the bill, saying it would help the economy.
The Chamber’s support was also seen by many in the business community, including many Republican elected officials.
“The American business community is deeply committed to this bill, and we expect it to be passed in the lame duck session, and with President Trump’s support,” CEO John Callahan told Politico in a statement.
However, there are several companies that have raised objections, including the U.K.-based Tata Group and the United Arab Emirates-based Emirates Oil and Gas.
Tata Group is one of the largest U.W. corporations and one of its subsidiaries is one the biggest oil producers in the world.
In response, the UAE has accused Tata Group of using its profits to fund its activities in Saudi Arabia, an accusation the company denied.
As a result, the company has filed a lawsuit against the U
